Past Productions

Fio’s debut original work was Swarm, a devised site-specific production examining migration, identity, empathy and belonging. The piece invited audiences to interact with refugee and migrant characters, with a professional and community case of young people and older performers.

In 2016, Fio produced The Mountaintop by Katori Hall, a fictional depiction of the Reverend Martin Luther King Junior’s last night on earth before his assassination.

“Can’t remember the last time I was so moved by a stage production.”

In 2017, Fio produced Death and The Maiden by Ariel Dorfman at The Other Room in Cardiff.

“Deliciously shocking, well-acted and engaging...
didn’t want it to end.”
— Audience member

Death and The Maiden was followed by Athol Fugard’s The Island, set in Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was notoriously imprisoned. The production toured in 2018, Mandela’s centenary year, and received stellar reviews.
