Emily Carewe
Emily is a creative producer, facilitator, and artist.
After graduating from the University of Bristol, Emily went on to study Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music, and then was awarded a scholarship to train as an actor at LAMDA.
Beginning her producing career with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Emily went on to work as an independent producer creating and programming musical theatre concerts and scratch events, before working with Sony Germany as an audio producer in 2018. She established GEMA Collective in 2017 with 2 fellow graduating actors, platforming women and non-binary creatives in theatre through 3 seasons of a podcast. In 2019, Emily joined 45North as Creative Executive Producer leading producing and fundraising whilst working as part of the leadership team to build company strategy. Whilst with 45North, Emily produced for, and co-produced, with organisations such as Clean Break, Paines Plough, Women’s Playwriting Prize, LAMDA, Soho Theatre and more.
Emily is the Founder and Artistic Director of LAMDA MishMash, a 3-day festival taking place every 2 years, in which artists are commissioned and paid to create their own new work alongside a series of panel talks and professional development workshops.
With artist development at the heart of her work, Emily collaborates with writers and artists to develop their creative projects as well as individual artistic skills. She has worked dramaturgically on commission schemes at 45North and LAMDA supporting the growth of emerging artists and providing platforms for them to create and share work. Emily leads workshops within professional training institutions, schools and outreach programmes focussed on professional and artistic skill development as well as creative empowerment.
