Meet our new Executive Director - Emily Carewe!

We are extremely excited to announce that Emily Carewe has joined Fio as our new Executive Director!

About Emily:

Emily is a creative producer, facilitator, and artist.

After graduating from the University of Bristol, Emily went on to study Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music, and then was awarded a scholarship to train as an actor at LAMDA. 

Beginning her producing career with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Emily went on to work as an independent producer creating and programming musical theatre concerts and scratch events, before working with Sony Germany as an audio producer in 2018. She established GEMA Collective in 2017 with 2 fellow graduating actors, platforming women and non-binary creatives in theatre through 3 seasons of a podcast. In 2019, Emily joined 45North as Creative Executive Producer leading producing and fundraising whilst working as part of the leadership team to build company strategy. Whilst with 45North, Emily produced for, and co-produced with, organisations such as Clean Break, Paines Plough, Women’s Playwriting Prize, LAMDA, Soho Theatre and more. 

Emily is the Founder and Artistic Director of LAMDA MishMash, a 3-day festival taking place every 2 years, in which artists are commissioned and paid to create their own new work alongside a series of panel talks and professional development workshops. 

With artist development at the heart of her work, Emily collaborates with writers and artists to develop their creative projects as well as individual artistic skills. She has worked dramaturgically on commission schemes at 45North and LAMDA supporting the growth of emerging artists and providing platforms for them to create and share work. Emily leads workshops within professional training institutions, schools and outreach programmes focussed on professional and artistic skill development as well as creative empowerment.

It is with great pleasure that the Board of Trustees announces the appointment of Emily Carewe, as our new Executive Director. Emily is a creative producer, facilitator and artist who has worked in theatre for over 10 years with companies such as 45North, Clean Break, LAMDA, Sony, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and more. She therefore brings with her, significant experience in leading creative projects, as well as expertise in procuring and managing funds and budgets respectively. We are confident that her refreshing approach and her commitment to excellence, will add great value to the organisation.

Rydym yn hynod gyffrous i gyhoeddi bod Emily Carewe wedi ymuno â Fio fel ein Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol newydd!

Am Emily:

Mae Emily yn gynhyrchydd creadigol, yn hwylusydd ac yn artist.

Ar ôl graddio o Brifysgol Bryste, aeth Emily ymlaen i astudio Theatr Gerddorol yn y Royal Academy of Music, ac yna enillodd ysgoloriaeth i hyfforddi fel actor yn LAMDA.

Gan ddechrau ei gyrfa gynhyrchu gyda’r ‘Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’, aeth Emily ymlaen i weithio fel cynhyrchydd annibynnol yn creu a rhaglennu cyngherddau theatr gerdd a digwyddiadau scratch, cyn gweithio gyda Sony yr Almaen fel cynhyrchydd sain yn 2018. Sefydlodd y GEMA Collective yn 2017 gyda 2 gyd-actorion graddedig, gan lwyfannu menywod a phobl greadigol anneuaidd yn y theatr trwy 3 thymor o bodlediad. Yn 2019, ymunodd Emily â 45North fel Cynhyrchydd Gweithredol Creadigol gan arwain cynhyrchu a chodi arian wrth weithio fel rhan o’r tîm arweinyddiaeth i adeiladu strategaeth cwmni. Tra gyda 45North, cynhyrchodd Emily ar gyfer, a chyd-gynhyrchodd gyda, sefydliadau fel Clean Break, Paines Plough, Women’s Playwriting Prize, LAMDA, Soho Theatre a mwy. 

Emily yw Sylfaenydd a Chyfarwyddwr Artistig LAMDA MishMash, gŵyl 3 diwrnod sy’n cael ei chynnal bob 2 flynedd, lle mae artistiaid yn cael eu comisiynu a’u talu i greu eu gwaith newydd eu hunain ochr yn ochr â chyfres o sgyrsiau panel a gweithdai datblygiad proffesiynol.

“Allwn i ddim bod yn fwy cyffrous i fod yn ymuno â FIO y foment hon mewn amser. Mae’r effaith y mae’r sefydliad eisoes wedi’i chael ar leisiau Mwyafrif Byd-eang yn y sector diwylliannol Cymreig yn anhygoel, ac mae’r bwrlwm am yr hyn sydd i ddod mor egnïol. Ni allaf aros i weithio gyda Sita a’r tîm i lunio’r weledigaeth ar gyfer dyfodol y cwmni.”

Mae’n bleser mawr i Fwrdd yr Ymddiriedolwyr gyhoeddi penodiad Emily Carewe, fel ein Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol newydd. Mae Emily yn gynhyrchydd creadigol, yn hwylusydd ac yn artist sydd wedi gweithio ym myd theatr ers dros 10 mlynedd gyda chwmnïau fel 45North, Clean Break, LAMDA, Sony, y Royal Philharmonic Orchestra a mwy. Mae ganddi felly brofiad sylweddol o arwain prosiectau creadigol, yn ogystal ag arbenigedd mewn caffael a rheoli arian a chyllidebau yn y drefn honno.
