Fresh Beginnings in 2022

An update from Sita Thomas, Artistic Director

It's a New Year holding lots of excitement as we're working with new people, launching new projects, and developing new productions!

January has whizzed by. This month, we've been working on our new business plan, dreaming up visions for the future, and applying for funding to make our dreams a reality.

Jasmine, our wonderful Producer, has been leading on our Winter Sparks project which began in November last year. Every week our group of 11-16 year-old girls have been getting together in Riverside exploring different forms of creativity, from photography to baking, poetry to shoe designing. Jasmine will be sharing much more in a blog so I'll leave the rest to her!

We'll be introducing new team members over the coming days, as well as announcing a big new artist development programme that will be launching this year. Watch this space! We're aiming for significant cultural change in Wales, and I'm itching to get going with proper action.

This year we will also usher in new leadership for the company. Beth House has decided to take a step back from her role as Executive Director to focus on personal wellbeing, which we have of course supported fully. We are all so grateful for everything that Beth wholeheartedly contributed last year to growing and developing the company, and she will be missed!

We're now at a tipping point, ready to relaunch, and rebrand, and will soon be looking for someone to join the Executive team.

The door is always open, so if you're in any way interested in what we're doing at Fio, we'd love to hear from you. We're a home for Global Majority people in Wales, whether you're an artist, creative, performer, participant, audience member, leader or anyone at all, we'd love to support you.

Take care, and best wishes
