Arise 2024

ARISE 2024

FIO AND WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE ANNOUNCE ARISE - WALES CREATIVES, A YEAR-LONG PAID PROGRAMME FOR WALES-BASED GLOBAL MAJORITY THEATRE MAKERS.

Leading theatre and arts company Fio, celebrated for championing artists from the global majority, joins forces with acclaimed Welsh arts centre Wales Millennium Centre to launch the 2nd year of ARISE - WALES CREATIVES. A year-long paid artist development programme, ARISE - WALES CREATIVES will focus on supporting committed Global Majority creatives of any age (18+) from or based across Wales.

The programme will support eight Global Majority creatives from any creative discipline to take the next steps in their careers.

Every month of the year, participants will have the opportunity to attend an exciting industry-led masterclass, as well as one-to-one sessions with project leads Ndidi John, Jain Boon, Sita Thomas and Emma Evans. Participants will also be supported to secure a mentor relevant to their field of interest to further enhance their growth and professional development.

The creatives will also work together on bespoke practical projects across the year (such as creating their own radio plays, having placements on television shows, and collaborating with performance designers), supported by our partners BBC Radio Wales, S4C and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

The programme will run from July 2024 to July 2025, with masterclasses being held at Wales Millennium Centre, and with online session options available.

This development programme focuses on the individual participants’ goals and aspirations for their career paths. Each participant should demonstrate their interest in and commitment to theatre and/or arts and culture. We advise that individuals should have a minimum of two years of industry experience, but are open to applicants with transferable skills.
